Reporting to the Director of Procurement & Special Projects, this position will be responsible for performing farm and cold storage quality inspections and provide harvest adjustment recommendations to growers and harvest crews to ensure that all product, both on farm and in cooler, meet Always Fresh quality standards.
Responsibilities

Using USDA and Always Fresh Farms quality specifications, grade produce for quality, condition, temperature, weight, and size.
Assist the Grower Relations Manager and farmers to ensure quality and condition standards are met at the time of packing.
Ensure correct packaging material labels and code traceability stickers are used with corresponding product.
Communicate corrective actions needed to both Farmer and Grower Relations Manager.
Work with Sales and Commodity Management teams to identify orders, packing instructions and daily needs for individual orders.
Comply with company policies - Food Safety, GMP, PPE and others.
All other duties as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications:

Must be passionate about produce; minimum of two years of strawberry experience preferred.
College degree a plus
Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
General understanding of food safety program good practices (GAP’s, GMP’s, HACCP, etc.) preferred.
The ability to use USDA, company, and customer specifications to grade product for quality and condition.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Team-player who possesses a sense of urgency and works well alongside other teams.
Organized with excellent attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Reliable work ethic
Ability to work independently.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
Ability to travel to and from work as needed

Physical Demands:

Required to stand for long periods of time.
May involve some repetitive motions.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
May also engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of parts and part containers.
Must be willing to work intermittently in a refrigerated warehouse environment (32ºF - 45ºF).
